AYURSWASTHYA Scheme – Empowering AYUSH for a Healthier India
The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, has launched an ambitious initiative known as the AYURSWASTHYA Scheme — a Central Sector Scheme designed to strengthen India’s traditional systems of medicine and integrate them with public health services. This scheme promotes research, education, and innovation in Ayurveda, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (AYUSH), aiming to create a healthier and more self-reliant nation.

Launched on 1st April 2021, the AYURSWASTHYA scheme supports projects and institutions across India to promote the AYUSH system through two major components:
AYUSH and Public Health (PHI)
Focuses on integrating AYUSH interventions in community health programs.
Supports research and field-based activities for lifestyle disorders, preventive health, nutrition, and rehabilitation.
Encourages AYUSH participation in sports medicine, geriatrics, and school health initiatives.
Upgradation to Centres of Excellence (CoE)

Enhances infrastructure and facilities to meet international standards.

The scheme operates as a Central Sector Scheme, meaning it is fully funded by the Government of India. Grants-in-aid are provided to eligible institutions, research bodies, universities, and NGOs working in AYUSH and public health.
